Toledo has a strong Mayor form of government. The mayor is elected to a four-year term. Toledo City Council consists of six at-large members elected to four-year terms. There are also six district council seats. Specific City Council duties include adopting/amending laws, establishing policies, approving budgets and spending priorities, and approving contracts/agreements. City Council also has twelve committees including: Community and Neighborhood Development; Health and Community Relations; Law and Criminal Justice; Economic Development; Human Resources; Public Safety; Environment, Utilities and Public Service; Information Services; Youth, Parks and Recreation; Finance and Budget; Intergovernmental Relations; and Zoning and Planning. Formal Council meetings are held every other Tuesday at 4:00 pm in Council Chambers at One Government Center. All of these meetings are open to the public. On the alternate Tuesdays, agenda review meetings are held. These meetings are also open to the public and are held on the 21st floor at 2:00 p.m. The agenda for these meetings can be found on the City of Toledo website prior to the meetings.
