You no doubt remember learning about the three co-equal branches of government in your high school civics class. There’s the legislative branch, which makes laws. There’s the executive branch, which carries out and enforces the laws. And there’s the judicial branch, which ensures that the laws are applied fairly and impartially.

Of the three branches, the legislative branch is probably the most recognizable, and many of us are familiar with our own representatives. Most of us can also name the governor, the state’s chief executive officer. But the Supreme Court justices? Most Ohioans don’t even know how many there are, let alone name them.
