Another election year is upon us, which means it’s time for special interests to load up your Ohio ballot with crazy ideas that may sound good on the surface – but really feature hidden costs and do harm to our already struggling economy.

This time, big labor and its liberal allies are gearing up to ask Ohio voters to make the Buckeye State more like…San Francisco?

That’s right, San Francisco. You know – the west coast city that typifies traditional Midwestern values and middle class America.

In 2008, the plan is to make Ohio the first state – and, after San Francisco, only the second political jurisdiction in the U.S. – to pass a law that would require employers to provide paid sick leave to all employees.

This mandated sick leave initiative may sound good on the surface, but it’s just another one-size-fits-all approach that would cause more harm than good.
